When I was teaching recently to a Polish Buddhist group in Chicago (see the photo), someone came up with a copy of my book "The Fourteen Dalai Lamas: A Sacred Legacy of Reincarnation." The Polish edition looks better than the American one; but then, so did the Greek edition. Polls get the gold, Americans the bronze.

Atisha's Cave

After meditating in the Atisha cave on Drak Yerpa, hail and then snow covered Lhari Nyingpo in a silvery halo.

 

Milarepa's cave near Nyelam is magical. Our May 2011 group meditated there for a hlf hour. After that we too turns placing hands in Milarepa's handprints in the boulder that forms the ceiling of the cave. Barbara Jones took this photo on her phone camera. A clear light explosion.

Of note to Tibetophiles, Tai Situ's choice for the Karmapa arrived in DC for the Kalachakra. He first appeared at the Dalai Lama's peace talk on the West lawn of the Capital Building. Because I am a friend of the sponsor of that event, I was seated front row center of the sponsor's seats. Buchung, president of the ICT, came and asked me to move over two seats. The Karmapa then arrived, and was seated in my seat. Ha ha. I got to warm his seat for him. Sort of like a food taster, I guess, but the other side of things.
