2013.11.22 A Kailash khorra in mid May. It is the Year of the Horse. One Kailash walkaround is equal to twelve. The lazy person's way NOT to be lazy. 22 days all told. I'll have the itinerary on my website soon. No tenting this time. But we will take three Sherpas for high altitude safety reasons. Photo by Wayne Jex, from an earlier Kailash adventure.....

2013.12.27 Happy Boxing Day. Ahhh, the horse I bought my sister 12 years ago or so. He likes to say hello to humans.
2014.1.3 New Year dinner in Gatineau (across the river from Ottawa) with my sister Denise (to my right) brother Karl (her right) and four of their six kids. My brother Karl and his wife Gisele hosted the event. A good time was had by all.
2014.1.20 Just returned from Changwon, an ocean-side town in the deep south of South Korea, where I taught tantric Buddhist attitudes and practices based on the Bardo Todol ("Tibetan Book of the Dead") to a group of Jungian / Zen enthusiasts. 19 beautiful women and two men. A bit one sided, gender-wise, but such a balance has its charms. Then, back in Seoul, over the weekend I gave Yamantaka initiation to 25 or so aspirants Seoul tantrikas. Such is life in early 2014.
2014.2.22 Just arrived back in Atlanta a few hours ago, after a 14 hour flight from Korea. Now for 20 cities in nine weeks.... Mostly teaching the Six Yogas of Niguma on this tour. Here's a photo of when the Double H visited Oglethorpe a decade or so ago. He has a more flexible back than I do, it would seem. I tried to bow lower than he, but he won the competition. Olympic Gold to the Double H.
2014.2.22 I did a one hour interview with the Double H that day in the museum, for an art exhibit I had curated "Mystical Arts of Tibet, featuring personal sacred objects of the Dalai Lama." After the interview, we took this photo of him. I did a catalog of that exhibit with Andy Weber ("The Mystical Arts of Tibet").

Koreans do not heat their homes or temples much in the winter, so everyone sits in their winter coats during lectures and meditation sessions. I do plan to teach Tummo there later in the year.
2013.2.3
Some weeks ago I posted the Rimey Lamachopa Tsogshing Tangka from the lineage of Khyentsey Wangpo, that is presently hanging in the Han Family Museum (Heyajung Museum) here in Seoul. 21 years ago I translated Dilgo Khyentse's liturgy for the ppractice, so was amazed to find the tangka on display in Seoul. My earlier posting was low rez. A friend shot in higher rez, in four pieces. A NY photographer friend, Sheldan Collins, graciously sewed the four together to make one tangka. Here it is, for people interested in the practice. By the way, the sadhana is published by Sumeru Books, and available through Amazon
Milarepa Healing Yogas in Pittsburgh, Sun Feb 10th. My flight from Korea arrived in Atlanta Friday at noon. Jose Morelli of "The Flying Mystics" graciously picked me up, together with Michele Miley, and we had lunch together. I am now ensconced with friends here, and will teach the Milarepa Healing Yogas today. Attached is the flier. COme if in the area, and if interested in easy and healthy enlightenment.

Back from Nepal to my little Dharma Center in Seoul. I'll be here for two weeks, to give White Tara initiation and teaching, and a few other Dharma activities. Here's a photo of the Guru Rinpoche cave at Parping in Nepal. Our group measured hands with padma Sambhava's handprint in the rockface outside the cave. I have bigger hands than he did. He must have been a shorty. — Guru Rinpoche Cave, Parping, Nepal

The Mongolia pilgrimage with the group of Korea Dharma students went wonderfully, with no mishaps. Ojai Carl accompanied us on some parts of it. Bayantsagan Lama hosted us in Teralj in his Aryapala Avalokiteshvara Temple for two days. Kuntu Zangpo Lama also joined us for the Dharma Adventure. We did Chenrezig Meditation in the large temple, Tara in thie small temple of this photo, and Milarepa Lineage of Amitayus in the Milarepa Cave Temple. I attach a formal photo of our group, following the Tara practice.
2013.9.12 Just had a wonderful few days in the Gobi with Triptych Journey, and our film project. www.triptychjourney.org. Then a great meeting with Altangerel, the hero of the Gobi. — Konchog Norbu, Marc Wennberg
2013.9.13
On Sept 10th, a few hours before the official opening of the new temple at Hamrin Hrid, visiting pilgrims individually offer buddha statues in support of the project. The wall behind the altar will eventually house 1,000 buddha images. Here Triptych Journey's fearless leader and film director Marc Wennberg makes a donation to the monastery and in turn has a buddha statue placed in his name. He looks on carefully to see that Maa Lama places it in the most auspicious location. Marc's long honed skills in geomancy have him razor sharp in this regard.
An artist friend, Cody Stroupe, just sent me a quaint Photoshop creation that he made. Spacey..... Ahhh, the tantric vision of self and others as "light body" beings.

Ling Rinpoche's young tulk seems to have miraculously survived the car accident, altho the driver was less fortunate. They were on their way from Drepung to meet the Dalai Lama at Goa airport. Here's a scan of the newspaper article on the episode. Rinpoche is in the hospital with two broken legs and a broken hip, but no life-threatening problems.

For people who liked the Demchok Monastery video short, South Gobi, here's a model of the rebuilding project. The monastery was one of 12 created by Danzan Rabjaa, 1803-1856, a contemporary of the 9th Dalai Lama. I made a YouTube video on his main place, "Shambhala in the Gobi," which has breasts of the Mother, and the birth passage. Demchok Hrid, a few hundred miles west along the southern ridge of the Gobi Mountains, has an enormous rock shaped like a penis. All 12 of his retreat centers were built on sited with sexy formations. During his life he wrote several thousand poems, drank three bottles of vodka a day, and made love to 5,000 beautiful women. Such is the legend. I edited Mike Kohn's book on his life, "Lama of the Gobi," back in 2006, in honor of the 150th anniversary of his parinirvana. You can probably find it with Amazon. Anyway, Danzan Rabjaa is the most deeply honored Mongolian saint of the last 200 years, perhaps second in history only to Zanabazar himself. In addition, he write and stages 12 Indo-European style operas, and took them on the road as part of his enlightenment activity. His tulku name is Noyun Hugatht, or "Noyun Incarnation." He was kind of a lama prince of the south and southeast Gobi. For people who love deserts, the Gobi is amazing, bursting with wild flowers in particular seasons.

When I was teaching recently to a Polish Buddhist group in Chicago (see the photo), someone came up with a copy of my book "The Fourteen Dalai Lamas: A Sacred Legacy of Reincarnation." Milarepa's cave near Nyelam is magical. Our May 2011 group meditated there for a hlf hour. After that we too turns placing hands in Milarepa's handprints in the boulder that forms the ceiling of the cave. Barbara Jones took this photo on her phone camera. A clear light explosion.

Of note to Tibetophiles, Tai Situ's choice for the Karmapa arrived in DC for the Kalachakra. He first appeared at the Dalai Lama's peace talk on the West lawn of the Capital Building. Because I am a friend of the sponsor of that event, I was seated front row center of the sponsor's seats. Buchung, president of the ICT, came and asked me to move over two seats. The Karmapa then arrived, and was seated in my seat. Ha ha. I got to warm his seat for him. Sort of like a food taster, I guess, but the other side of things.
